The first written record of the thermal waters dates to 1448, with the current facility evolving from a site established during the Ottoman occupation in the 16th century. The water is a lukewarm medicinal fluid (28-31°C) characterized by radon and sulfur content, which rises from the limestone and volcanic tuff layers of the Bükk Mountains. The modern bath was officially established in 1932 and underwent significant expansion in the early 2000s.
